The "Go-to-High-School, Go-to-College" program, established in 1922, concentrates on the importance of completing secondary and collegiate education as a road to advancement. Through the Alpha Academy Initiative, we are able to combine the benefits of many of our national educational programs to include: Go-to-High-School, Go-to-College, Project Alpha and A Vote-less People is a Hopeless People. Young men receive information and learn strategies that facilitate success in all facets of life with Alpha men who will provide participants with an excellent role model to emulate.
Alpha Academy Overview
AXΛ established the Alpha Academy to mentor males (8th – 12th) in the CSRA. In supporting the fraternity’s national programs, “Project Alpha” and “Go to High School–Go to College,” the Alpha Academy serves as a venue to stimulate the educational, cultural and personal growth of young men beyond the scope of the normal high school curriculum.
The objective of the Alpha Academy is to offer enriching experiences for young men to expand his network with like achievers and mentors, and further develop skills through a variety of civic, educational and cultural activities.
Academy Motto: "We are princely men of grace; striving to be a credit to our race."

“Bert T. Thomas” Oratorical Contest
The purpose of the AXΛ Oratorical Contest is to identify problems or special topics of interest within society and determine how the problem or topic relates to the goals and objectives of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated. The Oratorical Contest provides students the opportunity to enhance and display their communication skills through oration. The contest fosters the development of leadership qualities as well as the ability to think intelligently and speak clearly. It also prepares students for the acceptance of duties and responsibilities of entering college and/or the real world. Solid public speaking and written communication skills will be an integral part of an individual's chosen career field. The contest is considered the penultimate event of The Alpha Academy.
